Themes are the fundamental and often universal ideas explored in a story. Themes may implied or explicitly revealed. A story can have one theme or several themes varying in significance.

  • Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card: "Sometimes lies were more dependable than the truth." Ender is tricked into doing something that he would not have been able to pull off had he known the turth.
